The Force Awakens Destroys Box Office Records

After 32 years in the making, the seventh movie of the Star Wars enterprise is definitely the movie we’re looking for.

After collecting an astonishing $529 million dollars worldwide after three days of its release and rating a 95% on Rotten Tomatoes, The Force Awakens has captured the fascination of sci-fi and Star Wars fans around the globe with its out-of-this-world effects and fantastic actors.

Don’t worry, there’ll be no spoilers in this article!

The fight between the light side and dark side is back again! Kylo Ren and the First Order, the remnants of the old Galactic Empire, look to wipe out the New Republic and the Resistance. It’s up to Finn, an ex-stormtrooper, Rey, a girl from the world Jakku, and the allies they meet along the way to stop the First Order from destroying peace in the galaxy.

Thanks to the director of this newest installment, J.J. Abrams, the difference in graphic design is monumental in comparison to the six previous movies. The original three Star Wars movies (created between 1977-1983) first used incredibly detailed miniatures and motion photography, and the next three prequels (created between 1999-2005)  contained animatronics and the beginnings of CGI. Abrams, however, refines the use of CGI, making the life-forms and background much more realistic in comparison to past CGI creations from George Lucas, such as Jar Jar Binks.

Not only does The Force Awakens have a brilliant cast of new actors, like Daisy Ridley (Rey) and John Boyega (Finn), but it also incorporates past actors from the previous Star Wars films, like Harrison Ford (Han Solo) and Carrie Fisher (Leia). The combination of these two generations creates a link between the past six movies and this newest one, but it mainly emphasizes the development of  the new characters in a brilliant fashion.

After watching The Force Awakens, I highly recommend that everyone–no matter if you’re a Star Wars nerd or not–watch this movie. Not only does it contain intense action scenes, but it also balances it with an intricate plot-line that has plenty of suspense and drama.

Needless to say, the Force is definitely strong with this movie, and has already created anticipation for the next installment in the Star Wars saga.
