Led by pins from eighth grader Regan Schrempp, sophomore Nate Larson, and senior captain Mark Hall, Apple Valley defeated Rosemount 58-19 Friday night.

The Eagles began the night with sophomore Peyton McLagan losing by major decision 14-6 in the 106 weight class.  Apple Valley quickly turned it around, however, earning back to back pins by Schrempp and Larson in the 113 and 120 weight classes, respectively.

126-pound sophomore Logan Grieman earned a win by forfeit.  Apple Valley’s winning ways were curbed when senior Abdi Said lost by pin in the 132 weight class and 138-pound freshman Michael Mattison lost by decision, 12-9.  A forfeit in the 145 weight class saw junior Arthur Quinones get Apple Valley’s fourth win.

Rosemount earned a second pin when freshman Tristan Tracy lost in the 152 weight class.  160-pound junior Will Ramsey’s 8-0 win began an unbeaten run that secured the win the Apple Valley.  Hall showed why he is #1 in the nation, winning by pin in 37 seconds in the 170-pound class.

“I have a little bit of a routine,” Hall said about his pre-match preparation. “Two matches before mine, I take off my sweatshirt or jacket, whatever I have on.  Then, one match before I take off my sweatpants or shorts.”

“They do a little sweating, so they know their body’s ready, and warmed up, and ready to go, then they just get mentally prepared,” head coach Dalen Wasmund added.

Forfeit wins by senior Prince Hyeamang, junior Carlos Jimenez, eighth grader Tony Anger, and junior Jacob Schmid in the 182, 195, 220, and 285 weight classes, respectively, rounded out Apple Valley’s 58-19 victory.

Apple Valley seeks to continue the success in their next match, Thursday January 21st, against Farmington High School and Apollo High School at Farmington at 7:00.
