High-Flying Hawks
The Dakota Hawks Adaptive Floor Hockey team flew right by the South Suburban Flyers Thursday night as they capped their regular season off with a blowout victory of 17-0; however, the scoreboard was stopped at 8-0 due to the insane number of goals by the Hawks.
The Hawks opened up quickly in the first period with a high octane offense scoring 6 goals, hunting down the Flyers early with Nick Kuefler having two goals and Grayson Nicolay having three assists by the end of first period.
The Hawks were quick to set the pace of the game and the Flyers never recovered, having 4 shots on goal during the whole game as opposed to a staggering 42 by the Hawks, who soared to new heights as they now have their eyes set on the playoffs.
“A goal of winning a state championship this year” is now on the horizon, reported assistant coach Tori Holt, who filled in for head coach Brett Sadek.
When asked how they soared so high, Coach Holt shared the secret of “allowing our older players to have success and allowing younger players to lie behind the older players.” This has worked, as the Hawks finished first in the conference this season and are now headed into the playoffs flying higher than ever.
