The Eagle swimmers competed in the 2015-2016 section meet February 24th-26th. With multiple top 15 finishers, the Eagles showed signs of their improvement throughout the season and the team’s future success.

The top two swimmers and relays in each race move on to compete in the state tournament. Even though none of the Eagle swimmers will move on to compete at state, they had many top 10 finishes in the relay events. In the 200-yard relay the team placed 6th with a time of 1:33.60. This relay included Ethan Tracy, Sam Larkin, Tony Lee and Max Larkin. Captain Tony Lee says, “One of our biggest accomplishments at this meet was being able to finish strong and focus on staying motivated”.

In the individual races the team had many top 15 finishes. Ethan Elumba finished 6th in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 59.34. Sam Larkin also finished 10th in the 100-yard freestyle race with a time of 51.62. In the 500-yard freestyle race Micheal Searson placed 15th with a time of 5:23.52, and, right behind him, Max Larkin finished 16th with a time of 5:23.76.

With the 2015-2016 season coming to an end for the swimmers, they look to improve for the next year. “The captains were happy because the team bonded well; even though it was hard to win meets, the team grew stronger,” says Lee.
