The Eagles head out for the face-off.

Monday’s non-conference matchup between Apple Valley and TriMAC was filled with Eagle offense, while TriMAC didn’t have any offense until 3:30 into the game. The Eagles won 18-1.

“I think that [defense] is really our strong suit every night,” head coach Michael Evans said. “I think that our offense really did a great job holding the ball and not allowing [TriMAC] many opportunities.”

The combination of a strong defense and persistent offense led to Apple Valley scoring 18 goals while allowing only one. Jacob DeWall and Jacob Savard both had three goals, while Kevin Cranmer had five assists.

“People were just open tonight,” Cranmer said.

Although the Eagles had a sizeable advantage over TriMAC on the stat-sheet, they kept their cool and didn’t let it get to their heads. With such a young team, this isn’t easy.

“All of our seniors – especially our captains – were captains and other sports leaders in something else, so they’ve been here before, they know what to do,” Coach Evans said.

The Eagles were dominant throughout the game, scoring quickly and often. Even when most of the starters had been subbed out, they continued to score and demonstrate how deep their roster is.

Apple Valley play their cross-town and conference rival Eastview on May 5th at Eastview High School.

With Monday night’s win, the Eagles boosted their overall record above .500 and are now sitting at 4-3 overall.  South Suburban Conference standings can be found here.
