Boys Basketball
What a tremendous season it was for the boys basketball team. Led by Gary Trent Jr. and Tre Jones, the Eagles only lost two games all year en route to a third place finish in the state tournament.
The Eagles’ repeat dreams were crushed in the state semifinals against Hopkins, but were able to get a little redemption in their third place victory against Osseo.
During the regular season, the Eagles only suffered one loss, against the very team that ousted them in state. They finished the season with a 30-2 record.
Both Trent Jr. and Jones led the team with their tremendous play, and were accompanied by the fantastic play of Cameron Kirksey, Brock Bertram, and others.
Trent Jr. also broke 1000 career points at Apple Valley, and he’s only a junior.
Bertram was the team’s defensive anchor, but with him, Kirksey, and the other seniors leaving next season, there will be many questions as to who can help Trent Jr. and Jones lead Valley back to the top.
