The ladies gathered together before a game

Girls Hockey

The girls hockey team skated to a 7-17-2 record this year, but the team made national headlines with their unbelievable performance in the section quarterfinals against East Ridge.

Although they lost 2-3 against East Ridge, the Eagles were caught in an epic marathon game. The game lasted for six overtime periods–121 minutes and 58 seconds to be exact–making it the longest girls hockey game in state history. It is truly something for the team to be proud of, despite the loss.

Junior goalie Taylor DeForrest had 111 saves, which smashed the record for saves made in an overtime game. A record like this may never be topped again in state history, and it will sure be hard to top a game like this for DeForrest.

The team will only lose one senior to graduation, so with most of the team returning next year, the girls have a great chance of advancing further into the section playoffs and maybe getting into state.
