Apple Valley and Eastview go after the tip to start the game.

Apple Valley girls’ basketball suffered a tough 67-49 loss Friday night against cross-town rivals  and Minnesota #1 Eastview.

The Lightning started out hot and didn’t let up, outscoring the Eagles 39-21 in the first half.

“It’s just like any other game,” said Apple Valley coach Jeremy Gordon about the rivalry matchup.

Captain Aleya Parker thought differently. “It’s exciting,” Parker said. “I just get really pumped up.”

Apple Valley managed to claw back with a 9-4 run early in the second half, shortening the deficit to 14.

But the Lightning were too strong, holding Apple Valley to a season-low 49 points.

“We gotta learn from every loss, and continue to work offensively, defensively, and in transition,” Gordon said.

Tuesday’s loss moves the Eagles to 4-2 before their first Roseville Holiday Tourney game against Saint Anthony Village on Monday, December 28th, in Roseville at 2:45 pm.

NOTE:

In this game, junior Lyndsey Robson broke the Apple Valley record for career assists, bringing her career total to 372.
